The Costa Tropical
The nearest sea, an hour away
- What it is
- The coast south of Granada around Almuñécar and Salobreña, sheltered enough to grow mangoes and custard apples. It is a working coast rather than a resort strip.
- Getting there
- Buses from Granada bus station take about an hour and fifteen minutes; a return is usually under €15.
- When to go
- May to October for swimming. It stays mild in winter, which is when the beaches are actually pleasant to walk.
- On a student budget
- The realistic Sunday out when you want the sea and do not have a car. Take food — the beachfront restaurants are priced for holidaymakers.
