Sierra Nevada
Skiing an hour from a Mediterranean beach
- What it is
- Europe's southernmost ski resort, on the mountains you can see from the city centre. The season usually runs from around December to April.
- Getting there
- A bus from the Granada bus station takes about an hour; day return roughly €10. In season there are extra weekend departures.
- When to go
- January and February for snow; the same road in summer is walking country and much quieter.
- On a student budget
- The cheapest way to ski in Spain, and the schools sometimes run group trips — ask. A day pass, hire and lessons together are still a fraction of the Alps, but a full ski day is not a twenty-euro day out. Go with a group and split the hire.
