Museo del Prado
Velázquez, Goya, Bosch — and free in the evenings
- What it is
- One of the great collections of European painting, strongest in Spanish work from the twelfth to the twentieth century. Las Meninas alone justifies the visit.
- Getting there
- Metro Banco de España or Atocha, both a few minutes' walk.
- When to go
- The last two hours before closing are free to everyone, and correspondingly busy. Go on a weekday.
- On a student budget
- Free in that evening window and free at any time with proof of student status in some categories — bring your enrolment letter. Two hours is enough; do not attempt the whole museum.
