The Alcazaba and Gibralfaro
A Moorish fortress above the centre
- What it is
- An eleventh-century palace-fortress on the hill over the old town, connected by a walled walkway to the Gibralfaro castle above it. The view takes in the port, the bullring and the sea.
- Getting there
- Walk up from the Roman theatre in the centre, or bus 35 to the top and walk down.
- When to go
- Late afternoon. The climb in August at midday is a mistake people make once.
- On a student budget
- A combined ticket for both is a few euros, and entry is free on Sunday afternoons — which is when everyone goes, so decide which you would rather have.
