Caminito del Rey
A walkway pinned to a gorge
- What it is
- A three-kilometre boardwalk along the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, a hundred metres above the river. It was notoriously dangerous until it was rebuilt in 2015 and is now perfectly safe and still alarming.
- Getting there
- Train from Málaga to El Chorro takes about forty minutes; the walk is one-way with a bus back.
- When to go
- Spring and autumn. Book weeks ahead — entry is timed and limited.
- On a student budget
- Around €10 plus the train, which is the best value day out in this guide. Not for anyone who dislikes heights.
