Ronda

What it is

A white town built on both sides of a hundred-metre gorge, joined by an eighteenth-century bridge, with one of the oldest bullrings in Spain.

Getting there

Train or bus from Málaga, around an hour and three quarters.

When to go

Any time; it is high enough to be cool when the coast is not.

On a student budget

The standard first weekend trip. Go early and leave late — the day-trip coaches arrive at eleven and leave at four.
