What it is

Salamanca's nightlife is disproportionate to its size because the population is so young. It is concentrated around Gran Vía, Van Dyck and the streets off Plaza Mayor.

Getting there

Walkable. Nothing is more than fifteen minutes from anything.

When to go

Thursday is the student night. Spanish evenings start late — before eleven you will be early.

On a student budget

Van Dyck is the cheap street: bars there serve a drink and a hamburger-sized tapa for a few euros. Term time is busy and August is dead, which is worth knowing if your course is in summer.
