The old university

What it is

One of the oldest universities in the world, with a plateresque facade carved in the sixteenth century. Somewhere in that facade is a small carved frog, and finding it without being told is a rite of passage.

Two minutes from Plaza Mayor.

When to go

Mornings. The facade faces the light better and the lecture halls are open.

On a student budget

Entry is a few euros, sometimes free on certain afternoons — check the day you go. The historic lecture hall with its original benches is the part worth the ticket.
