La Concha

What it is

A crescent of sand between two headlands, with an island in the middle of the bay. It is regularly called the best city beach in Europe and it is hard to argue.

Getting there

The centre of town. You will walk along it daily.

When to go

Swimming from June, though the Atlantic here is not the Mediterranean. The promenade is worth walking in any weather.

Free, and the reason the rent is what it is.
