City of Arts and Sciences
The white buildings from every photograph of Valencia
- What it is
- A complex of museums, an aquarium and an opera house designed by Santiago Calatrava, built along the old riverbed. The architecture is the attraction even if you go into nothing.
- Getting there
- Bus 95 or a half-hour walk along the Turia gardens from the centre.
- When to go
- Evening for the buildings lit and reflected; the aquarium takes most of a day on its own.
- On a student budget
- Walking around the outside is free and is what most residents do. The Oceanogràfic aquarium is the expensive one — expect €30-ish — so pick one attraction rather than a combined ticket you will not use.
