The white buildings from every photograph of Valencia

What it is
A complex of museums, an aquarium and an opera house designed by Santiago Calatrava, built along the old riverbed. The architecture is the attraction even if you go into nothing.
Getting there
Bus 95 or a half-hour walk along the Turia gardens from the centre.
When to go
Evening for the buildings lit and reflected; the aquarium takes most of a day on its own.
On a student budget
Walking around the outside is free and is what most residents do. The Oceanogràfic aquarium is the expensive one — expect €30-ish — so pick one attraction rather than a combined ticket you will not use.
