Las Fallas

What it is

A festival in mid-March in which neighbourhoods build enormous satirical sculptures and then burn them, accompanied by daily gunpowder displays at two in the afternoon.

Getting there

It happens around you. The centre closes to traffic.

When to go

The 15th to the 19th of March, with the burning on the last night.

On a student budget

If your course covers March, this is why. Accommodation prices spike and the city does not sleep — plan for a week where studying is not realistic, and enjoy it instead.
