What it is

One of the largest covered food markets in Europe, in a modernista building from 1928, still a working market rather than a food court.

Getting there

In the old town, beside the Llotja de la Seda.

When to go

Mornings, Monday to Saturday. It closes in the afternoon and does not open on Sundays.

On a student budget

This is a practical entry rather than a sightseeing one: fruit, vegetables and fish here cost a fraction of the supermarket, and going late in the morning gets you the end-of-day prices.
