Turia gardens

What it is

After a catastrophic flood in 1957 the river was moved outside the city, and the old bed became a park running through the middle of Valencia. It is the way people get about on foot and by bike.

Getting there

It runs through the city; you will cross it constantly.

When to go

Any time. Early morning in summer, when it is the only cool place.

On a student budget

Free, and the reason to hire a bike rather than use buses. A month of city bike hire costs less than a couple of weeks of single tickets.
